Website Customization

July 14th, 2008

Nowadays, in this trendy world, people get very uptight when they do not look entirely presentable. This would also be the case in web designing.

Every individual would definitely want their website to look good, if not, to the best they can. Here are a few things we could look out for when wanting to create a professional looking webpage.

Color Schemes and Themes.

When designing, always choose matching colors. An example of a matching color would be to have a dark background, with visible words and designs. With the dark theme, try not to mix too many bright colors into the design. What we should NEVER do, is to mix two very different colors, such as purple and yellow. Now, of course, it would depend on the purpose of the website, but those two colors are too striking for one who wants it to look more professional.

Themes must always suit the company or rather, the organization / etc. If the website was made to cater for a food company, it would be wise to stick to that particular category, rather than to revert to a different theme, such as machinery.

Fonts should be used in regard to the formality of the website. A simple sans-serif font would suffice in most cases. Exceptional cases such as design and art groups might want to use fanciful designs and fonts. Of course, that’s only if you know what you’re doing.

Finally, we must always try to think of our visitors, see the way they see. The resolutions and file sizes of the pictures must not be too large in terms of size. This is to allow maximum compatibility and cater our visitor’s needs.

So, planning is something we should always do, before attempting something.

Effective Affiliate Marketing Tactics

July 12th, 2008

At present, Internet marketing is one of the most widely used forms of e-commerce. In other words it is one of the fastest growing online businesses. The online merchant makes a commission-based agreement with an affiliate marketer in order to advertise their products.

Affiliate marketing is a cooperative, mutually beneficial relationship between the online merchant and the affiliate marketer. The owner of the product gets more exposure in the market and this increases his customer base. Therefore, if the merchant is able to find trustworthy affiliates, it will save him time and money spent in finding would-be customers.

How the Affiliate Makes Money

The merchant receives a profit as soon as a visitor enters your site and clicks on a particular product to purchase. Your internet affiliate marketing website will recive a fee in form of a commission whenever a guest visits your site and purchases that product or service.

What to sell or promote

The first and foremost thing you need to be effective as an affiliate marketer is a place to “PRE” sell the products. Remember that you are PRE selling - not selling. You are recommending the product to a visitor that is interested in the content that you have on your website. So, the better you know the topic content of your website the better. Build your site on topics that you know about and it will be easier to give recommendations for products that fit that topic.

Search for high-paying commission products

The very next step is to devote some time in finding the highest quality products and services available from the online merchants. This is very important if you want to progress at a faster rate. You must find products from a business that gives a high commission rate. Then try to include those products in your site naturally without giving the possible customer the impression that you are selling.

The right way to use linking

The very last step will take more of your time and energy but it is equally important. People must be able to find your website in order for them to click on your affiliate program links. Links from other websites that have a high search engine page rank is the key to increasing your site’s page rank.

Reciprocal linking was always the task that created good ranking with the search engines. Not anymore. Now, it is back linking that is the linking method that produces results. One way to do this is to write articles and submit them to the article directories. Another is to link to your home page or main category pages from within your own website. But, don’t get carried away with this tactic. You don’t want to overdo it. You can also purchase one-way links from other websites or services.

Internet affiliate marketing can be a successful and profitable business. You won’t “get rich quick.” But affiliate marketing is a good way you can make money - with hard work and persistence.

Have Websites Built For You The Cheap Way

July 11th, 2008

Normally, if you want to have professional designers custom build your site, you must be prepared to dish out at least a few hundred dollars. All this can change if you know where to find the best deals, the best designs for the lowest price. Here’s a rough guide:

First, you must understand that it is a rip off to get companies to design websites for you. Have you ever seen those advertisements in newspaper classified ad sections that offer a 5-page website at $500? These companies are established companies with physical locations, therefore they have to increase the amount they charge to pay off some overheads: office rent, designer’s wages, advertising costs and so on.

Therefore, it would be wise to find freelance designers who work from home. These people are often working from home so they do not have a high operation cost like that of a company. On the other hand, they will be able to design images with quality similar to those of designers from big companies, so it’s a “no-brainer” choice.

However, choose freelancers with care. The best way to do this would be to go to elance.com. There, you can post the abstract of your project and get thousands of freelancers to bid on your project, so you will surely get the best deal. On top of that, you will be able to choose the designers based on their experience, past transactions and ratings, so your value for money is secured.

Another route you can take is to design your website yourself. Think about it, if you only need 5 simple pages to present some simple information, why waste hundreds of dollars for it? Just spend a little time to sit down and do it yourself. You’ll be able to design your own sites even if you do not know a single line of HTML code with the help of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs such as Microsoft Frontpage, Macromedia Dreamweaver and so on.

Another option is just to Contact Me! My designs are finished quickly, professionally…and they are guaranteed!

Choose a Niche Marketing Website that Will Increase Your Bottom Line

July 10th, 2008

When you choose a website topic for your niche site that is tightly focused on a “sub” niche, you will have a better chance of making money with your niche website. Your website should be based on something that you love AND that will make you a profit. How do you do that?

First, You must do some research. Do some keyword searches on topics that interest you.  WordTracker.com is a good place to do that. Choose a keyword phrase that has a high KEI for the most success.

Don’t get distracted while you are building your website content. Focus on your chosen keyword phrase. Every article that you write and all of the content on your website should target that keyword. This is what a niche (or themed) website is all about. When you focus on a specific theme, such as terrier dogs, you don’t have to compete with the websites that are about dogs in general. It cuts down your competition quite a bit and makes it easier for you to appear higher in the search engines.

Many newcomers to internet marketing choose internet marketing subjects as their niche. This may not be the best way to go. The general public is not looking for information on SEO; they are looking for information on an allergy, or a recipe or how to keep their teens away from drugs. Besides, the competition for Internet marketing is huge and is over-run by the “gurus.”

Niche marketing takes a lot of planning before you even start creating your website. As I mentioned earlier, you have keyword research. Then, you need a product; probably several of them. You might want your own ebook based on the website topic or you might want to use affiliate marketing to monetize your site. There is also the option of using Google Adsense. A combination of all of these will reap the highest rewards. So, create a plan on how you plan to build content, monetize and promote your website.

You may also want to have more than one website. The good thing about niche sites is the ability to have more websites based on the general niche but narrowed down to a different niche. For example, if your first site is about terrier dogs, your second could be about Pomeranians. If you keep adding niche sites on the same general subject, you could end up with some very valuable internet real estate.

There’s a lot of work involved in building a website. And, a lot of different things you must think about: your website topic, what type of website you want (HTML, WordPress, Joomla or some other script), your website template, your content, your product, etc. etc. If you have the money, you should contract some of this work out. There are several freelance websites that you can use to hire people to build your site, create your graphics and write your content.

So, are you ready to get started? Write it down into manageable pieces and take each step as it comes. Ask for help if you need it. And, go make some money!

At Home in Your Pajamas

July 10th, 2008

Being an online business owner comes with certain advantages. Unless you’re moonlighting (and thus working a day job and coming home and night to run your business) you can enjoy the perks of working at home:

• Set your own hours
• Be your own boss
• Wear what you want
• Avoid the traffic

… just to name a few of the benefits!

But I know someone who looks at these benefits and admits that those are exactly the reasons he is NOT going to be an online entrepreneur any time soon. Like most people, he doesn’t love his job at a car dealership, but he’s impressively realistic in admitting that if he were allowed to set his own hours and be his own boss he would flounder and his business would fail in the first month… as he would spend more time in front of the television than his computer.

If you own a business and work out of your home, here are a few things you should do to help ensure that you spend more time with your online customers than with Judge Judy or the good folks at Days of Our Lives.

• Schedule your start time. That advantage to being your own boss is that you can set your own hours. But how many of us really do that? Most of us have a start time of “whenever.” The workaholics start as soon as they’re out of bed… the procrastinators start after their third coffee of the day.

• Schedule your finish time. Again, we may have the advantage of setting our own hours, but do we actually SET them? Many don’t.

• Schedule your lunch hour. This is a great time to get away from your virtual office for a while and go for a real walk and eat some real food with real people. Don’t think of it as a waste of time, think of it as an investment into your sanity.

• Schedule breaks. There’s a reason that breaks are coveted by employees everywhere: they’re vital to our survival! Take a few minutes of break every couple hours to enjoy the most out of your day.

Affiliate Marketer? Earn More Money by Building Your List

July 10th, 2008

There are many marketing tools available that can help you to make money with your online business. One of them is called list building, and it is a great way to have an online rolodex containing a list of customers and potential buyers.

Many internet entrepreneurs use this tactic, and it can be extremely successful and profitable, if you know how to apply different list building techniques. New internet users who would like to start their own online business, have skipped over this great money maker because they think that it is too much work, or they may consider an unnecessary step in online marketing, but that is far from the truth. If you are not engaging in list building, you are missing out on a lot of money that you could have earned by having repeat customers.

One way that you can build a list, is to have a form on your website that allows your visitors to signup with their name and email addresses. Once this is done, you will send these individuals a newsletter that is filled with information pertaining to the subject of your website to provide them with the information that they are seeking.

These newsletters are a great way to remind your visitors and customers that you still exist. People have short term memories and will forget a website very easily because there are millions of web pages available online. You want them to remember your website and what it has to offer. When your newsletter is delivered to their email inbox, they will read your latest articles and content, and you can have subtle ads or products that you can recommend.

If you have a product for sale, you should note that most of the first time visitors to your website are not likely to buy from you on their first visit. If they become regular readers on your site or in your newsletters, they may eventually come across an ad or product that they like on your website.

Tips to Create a Great Customer List

Make your visitors an offer that they cannot refuse. This can be done with a give away that you can feature in a current newsletter. People love free stuff and it does not matter if this is a free ebook, audio or video. If you offer something free, you are almost guaranteed to receive many signups to your newsletter form.

Once you have begun to build your list, you will need to keep your members interested. It is easy to join a newsletter and it is just as easy to opt-out of that list. Keep their attention and give them great material that will keep them waiting for more.

Be an authority to your readers. The reason that they have become a member is to get information that they want to receive from you. You want to write articles and material that will help them to learn something that is not freely available.

Create a schedule and stick to it. When you first begin the list, you should try for a monthly newsletter or a bi-weekly edition. Many internet gurus have weekly newsletters, but you should understand what you are getting into before you go all out. You do not want to promise your readers that you will provide new and great newsletter each week if you cannot guarantee it. You will also want to avoid creating a newsletter that is filled with junk and worthless because you did not have the time to create a good one.

You are creating a newsletter, not a weekly circular. While you will want to mention a few products every now and then, you will want to avoid sounding like a telemarketer. Don’t push products in the faces of your visitors every time. When you do add, be subtle and don’t fill the entire newsletter with your ads.
